Mechanical Design

Specializing in Experimental Aircraft & Industrial Equipment

Hi, I’m Jeff Goodrich, and I love to design, build, and fly experimental aircraft. I grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado and was incredibly blessed with mentors who supported my aviation dreams, educationally and financially, from a very young age.

The feeling of flying fuels my creative spirit for design, innovation, and manufacturing projects. I am working on my private pilot’s license for fun, and I thrive in work settings where I get to problem solve for like-minded people in the aircraft and industrial equipment worlds alike.

Giving back to the community that gave me priceless hands on learning opportunities as a kid, and mentoring as I entered college and adulthood is important to me too. I taught mechanical design at Colorado Mesa University for several years, I volunteer in local school programs promoting STEM learning and career opportunities, and programs that take kids flying and teach them pilot skills. I also served on the City of Fruita’s arts & Culture Board for several years. I have an abundance of gratitude for the business leaders and airplane and machining nerds in my community that helped me get where I am today, and it’s fun taking the next generation of innovators and pilots in my community under my wing (pun intended, I am the pun master).

When I was 13 years old, I set out to improve the design of the Osprey, won my middle school science fair with my original RC designs that I built to scale and flew, and impressed the local Experimental Aircraft Association chapter members so much with the presentation of my Osprey and my findings, that they decided to fund my work and offer me scholarships on the spot. You can read the full story on that here, complete with photos, and a few great jokes: Grand Junction EAA Newsletter April 2004.

After earning my BS in Mechanical Engineering from CMU in 2013, I went on to work in aerospace design and component manufacturing with a focus on Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) turbine engines. My passion for design led to starting my own design firm. In a 7+ year span, my team and I developed thousands of designs for nationwide industry leaders. In 2020, I began a waste water evaporation systems project with a Florida based company, designing and manufacturing equipment to help people working in mines, landfills, and oilfield production to deal with wastewater in a more efficient, safe, and cost-effective way.

Alongside projects for clients, I have always kept my own experimental RC and manned aircraft passion projects alive. Check out my portfolio to see photos, videos, and renderings of both.

When I’m not working or flying, I’m creating hilarious art with AI, building castles in Minecraft, working on old cars, or enjoying the Colorado outdoors on dirt bikes, snowboards, skateboards, or river duckies with my family and friends.

To educate and inspire in the pursuit of lifelong learning.
